I wasn't clear what I meant. Yes, jailbreaking uses rooting. What I meant, which I now see I didn't type right due to me being an idiot.....
Is the jail breaking that PS3 had was not the same type of root access that was cracked. Yes, you could JB before, and it did effect the root... but the new root hack rewrites the root as opposed to "fooling it".
Even with teh JB in the past, no one actually "hacked" the antipiracy from sony in the root, they just tricked it. Now, however, if the sony root hack was properly installed, there would be no update to fix it. They can fix someone adding to the root, but if they changed their antipiracy via firmware, none of their games would work..... because the discs would not read.
