I can't stand watching demos of pingers - everything always seems "off", especially when it's a player who has been around for a bit and "knows what they're doing".

I'd like to see what some people who play with a comparable ping would have to say about the shots he makes, cuz I do have to agree it's amazing the regularity he does pull them off with.

Times like these I wish Frost and Rodrigo were still around. *sigh*

Lol Reaper, did you know demos were made so that when syncing is set to 1 while a demo is running that a demo will show what a lagger really sees? This is because it compensates for the lag. Try demoing a high pinger with sync still set to 1 and you should notice how they hit others at times in a strange manner of some sort. Also you should take into account that your own ping can affect what you see. Anyhow though watch the demo and you shall notice a difference in what can be seen, just like you would when you normally are playing in a server.

Now if you can tell from the synced demo that things still seem fishy then there must honestly be something going on Smile

Note sync delays your movement while demoing since it takes more power from quake resources to align player to player viewing/recording activities.

Well reaper, you said you grew up with dial up. Even in america it's atleast 150-200 ping so you should know how it feels.

Well, im hungover so excuse me if this post makes no sense.

Ping(latency not spiking) only affects when you see someone. they don't really skip any more then the normal 30-150 pingers, so making "Hard shots" or "strange shots" out in the open wouldnt (and isnt) any harder then any of you low pingers, the shots he made were fairly consistant but in a game where everyone plays the same map over and over again you learn to read where players usually go. and i noticed he ussually goes around the map in the same direction for a long time, and the shots he makes are all pretty much the same. i don't know if you guys can understand what im trying to get at here.

What would happen if you recorded someone without setting g_synchronousclients back to 0 ?

would it hit when they hit or would it be osp/baseq3 unlagged rail type?

If you demoed me, or another high pinger it would look rather similar i think, who knows, i don't know enough about this autofire thing to make accusations. some insight would be nice from others who know.

Hehe when you turn sync off after starting a recording, everything you are currently viewing while recording will show up the same way you will see it on the demo from there on in, until you turn syncing back on. There will be no changes made to the demo without the syncing provided to do so. The only time you don't want syncing on is when you are demoing yourself since with it on it just doesn't feel right (Besides, why sync with yourself anyhow? Seems pointless xD). But anyhow, when watching a demo, you always got to make sure the demoer doesn't ever turn off the sync or else the demo is totally useless from that point on. Now that is something not too many people are aware of Smile


Edit: Just a quick note for those who are still confused by this..

g_synchronousclients 1 is required in order to start demoing and will allow the person viewing the demo to see what the actual player who is currently being recorded is actually seeing without the difference in ping being an issue.

g_synchronousclients can be changed to 0 after a demo has been started and this will affect the outcome of the demo drastically when recording others since it does not take into account ping differences.
