Burn
Written By: Jacob Goodin
Life can come at you so fast,
Holding on, trying to make it last.
My grib slowly loosens,
As I let that feeling go.
What held me together?
If only I could of known.
In such darkness, where I'm all that shone.
How was I able to walk away?
Unsure of myself, without words to say...
Dreaming of the better days... alone.
This is where I remain, collecting my strength from the pain.
When I could wear a smile,
When I'd walk the extra mile.
Knowing you'd be there waiting on me.
It would be like waiting on the sunlight,
Knowing it was coming, just to begin our days.
Wishful to hear my voice,
Learning from what I had to say.
I'm holding on as much as I can,
Unsure of where I'd land.
Not caring of the next step,
As I'm not ready to move.
Coming to a fork in my path,
Unsure of which one to choose.
Time remains frozen only for a moment.
Just enough, so we both can learn.
What once was a sting, is now a burn.
