We actually had a lot of subjects where they taught us about the U.S here in Canada. Politics, Economics, History (mostly related World Wars and exploration), Geography, even Media and a few more I can't remember. We have a class in high school named American History for those who want to learn more about the U.S. We had small discussions about Obama/ McCain, Palin (her being the topic most of the time). We had the Inauguration of Barack Obama live in our library on big screen when it happened. Students were allowed to go and watch it if they wished as it was a "quiet week" prior to exams. We're not closed off from the U.S.
Obviously teachers don't teach us to hate our neighbours (U.S). We as human beings tend to judge everyone based on preconceptions and the actions of 1 person alone.
Personally, I don't like where the U.S has been going since 9/11. What Bin Laden did was horrible but by going to Afghanistan and Iraq and killing millions of innocent people didn't really set a positive image for the U.S. It's sad when you read sites like fmylife.com and see people complaining about spilling coffee on their brand new pants and then read the news and see that there are people in Afghanistan and Iraq that are suffering, being paralyzed and disabled, becoming orphans, dying, etc, just because of this pathetic "war" U.S has caused much more problems in the middle eastern and even in their own nation by going there. Why isn't U.S invading North Korea or Iran? They continuously disobey what U.N says and even threaten U.S. They are obviously corrupt. The reason why U.S is scared of these 2 nations is because they have the ability to fight back.
What else is wrong with the image of U.S? There are several videos of torture and killings of innocent civilians by American soldiers. Torture of prisoners, the issue of stupid protesters at the "holy" Ground Zero crying about a community center being built. They're not only protesting about the community center being built but are also Anti-Muslim. This shows how much freedom one in U.S really has. It's funny how this effected so many Americans yet the porn shops, alcohol stores, strip clubs did not have any effect. The center wasn't even near Ground Zero.

The U.S is warning other nations to stop building nuclear weapons while they are the only ones who have ever used one. Hypocritical much?
I may sound rude but the education system in the U.S is horrible. Some people are so ignorant and stupid there that they have no idea where Canada is. They refuse to recognize Canadian culture or any other culture and tend to have the "I'm better than you because I'm an American" attitude. America use to be a great nation but that's slowly coming to an end.
Not everything in Canada is perfect. I hate Harper (Canadian Prime Minister for those who don't know him). Harper has been licking the U.S' ass since he got elected. Majority of Canadians do not support the war but he does. He also backed up Saudi Arabia recently which was bullshit. His opinion and actions does not count for all Canadians just as I'd like to think that not everyone in the U.S supports the actions of U.S. I don't hate Americans, in fact, I have a aunt and uncle there. I just hate the decisions that America makes as a nation.
Sorry about the long essay :p. This is not the list of things U.S has done wrong but a list of things brings up discussions and debates here in Canada.
