You can buy a netbook that's SMALLER than that for 300... and hack it and put OSX on it if you want. :/

ROFL! I was on the phone telling my mom the same shit. She goes it looks pretty cool and it is good for people that just do average stuff on the computer and I was like I think it is retarded and way over priced, you can get a netbook for 200-300 and it is way better than that pile.

Thats why i dont like Apple products... I however have an Iphone. But thats becuase of lack of options in Alaska when regarding Service providers and Smart Phones..

Theyve been doing the same thing for years with the Ipod. Every version is lacking something. One has video, but no picture or radio. Then one has all those things, but only comes in 4 gb instead of 80. They mix them up so people have to consistantly upgrade. The Itouch is completly rediculous, imo, have all this cool stuff, but limits the storage. Whats the point in that? Its so you have all your apps and movies on that, then go out and buy a Nano to store all your music...

Its disgusting and thats why I bought a Zune.

Indeed and the sad part about it is they don't charge a fair price. It cost an arm and a leg to get one of these products that isn't even that much "Above Average".

Probably costs them... Oh.. 100 bucks tops to manufacture that. You don't make alot of money with only 250%, hell, walmart inflates by at least 400%. Apple is probably closer to 1000

It's not overpriced. Of course they'll charge more than the manufacturing price, but believe me, it's not as much as you guys imagine. The price is very low compared to other apple products because the goal here is not to sell hardware, they are trying to profit out of their iTunes, iBooks and App stores, that's where the real money is.

An iPhone 3GS costs around $180 to make, and that's not including expenses like distribution, retail stores, etc... now think about the iPad, with bigger screen, custom processor, etc, I'd say it's at $250. The introduction price is always inflated, but if you compare what the iPad can do with other similarish products like the Kindle and the price of them, you'll see the iPad is the best option.

Now, about the iPad as a computer, it is terribly crippled when compared with a netbook, but I think the user experience is much much better, mainly because netbooks suck so hard. If you think about it, for many people the iPad is all they need, it is safe (no viruses) and painless to maintain, incredibly easy and intuitive, and does facebook/word processing, and it's shiny and new. I wouldn't buy one because it does not fit my needs and because they crippled it a bit too much for my liking (no flash, no camera, no multitasking, too much of a big iPhone...)

What I mean is that all of us that are more on the tech-saavy (COMPUTER GEEKSSSS) side of things are not really in the demographic apple is aiming the tablet at. This one's aimed more at the "Wii crowd".

A netbook with OSX doesn't suck very hard, I've used a few.

But then again that's not a product average Joe can buy on a bestbuy and get tech support on it and it's not easy to maintain. The keyboards of netbooks suck, the speed sucks, hackintosh is illegalish and it's a pain to update/maintain and obtain in the first place. Spend 300 on the netbook, 130 in OS X and a bunch of time and it gets real close to the cost of the iPad. And it's not shiny and touchy and did I mention shiny? Well shiny.

Apple is way overpriced when it comes to their products. Look at their computers they are easily over a grand almost 2. Now yes they come with a good processor and graphics card and such but realistically you can buy a PC for cheaper that is a lot faster and better. Also with Macs how do you replace their hardware? I swear you have to destroy your computer just to replace a part as to where on PC you slide a cover off pull this out and then put a new one in and done. Also I am not saying Mac's OS sucks because it is good but honestly between a Mac & a PC you can't really say one is better than the other. It is personal preference, just like Nikon vs. Cannon or PS3 vs. Xbox 360.
