Well, for the past hour or so a group of people and I were not spamming the forums, but reposting topics that kept getting deleted by id moderators about the negatives upon this new update. I posted such threads as "The reason you pay up front" and "Why Q3 Trumps QL". Consequently enough, I was banned, so I started posting on my other account. Shortly after reposting all my threads from my previous account, I was confronted with this:

Quake Live and the Adventures of tool Banned

The reason I was banned is simple. I was bad publicity, criticizing the new update, the company for scamming new players, and all that. Here's an example of one of my posts:

"The reason you pay up front is simple, once id has your $48, they don't have to deal with you for a whole year. You pay up front in hopes that you will receive the quality game you deserve. Here's the thing though, if id took 2 years to bring new content to the table, and takes forever in updating problems that constantly arise, and are always complaining about being understaffed, how did that change? Simple fact, it didn't.

The reason you pay up front is so id has your money and you have the Quake Live that is sitting on your monitor right now, but that's ALL you will get. Why would id waste their time updating, bringing 'new' content, and responding to customer's problems when they have all their money already?

Save your money."

I get banned for telling the truth, for telling my opinions about a game I find to be a scam. And I wasn't the only one! I can understand deleting my posts, but an IP ban? The company will lose customers undoubtedly when negative feedback is simply being deleted and banned. I spit on Quake Light.

Yearly billing is retarded; I get it and I'm with you in that respect; but you were banned for being a dick and with fair reason.

Here's what the company is doing:

FREE: You get THIS.
PAY $1: You get a year of THIS.
PAY $3: You get a year of THIS.

That's it, buy it or don't: if you're willing to pay for what they're offering, pay for it; if you aren't, don't. If in the future they update the game, consider it a bonus. If to you the game is worth paying 48 bucks now, why wouldn't the same game be worth it a month from now just because they didn't update? They're telling you what exactly you get for your money, either it's worth it or not, no need to go into the forums and be a dick about it, especially when the issue has already been deleted/dealt with.

Seriously man give a fucking rest.
Why do you insist on posting about it?

You don't like it.. big fucking deal it isn't end of the world. As I said before stop making a big deal out of nothing.. others enjoy the game and will pay for it..

So your telling me if you do not like WoW your going to tell people they are stupid and it is a scam and spam it on the official forums?

Now seriously grow up, your acting like a child.

Who has anyone scammed? It's a free game. If you choose to pay, you pay. If you pay you get other options... that you are paying for. I may be mistaken... but that sounds like a business to me.

I assume you were talking in their forums? If so... it's a privately owned company with rules for their forums. They can ban you for not liking your name.

How many people have we banned for talking shit? It's no difference.

I definitely agree with you about the annual billing. Although I guess an upside to it is if you pay for a year you don't have to worry about the billing for a while.

It's the fact that they're bringing "new" content to the table when that content they brought has been out for over a decade. They're making it seem like Quake Live premium/pro accounts are the only ways to play these great maps. They're trying to rip-off newer players and it's completely retarded.

I never said my ban wasn't fair. If I was a company and I had some guy flashing his justice sword in my face, I would ban him too. But seriously, to ban someone's IP because of their opinion is quite immature.

And Pornfish, that's what I'm saying. It IS the same game as it was wen it was free. id did nothing but improve their site. The content isn't really new, the servers are still very corrupted and laggy, and Punk Buster is still not going to work for quite a few people. If anything, they took away the content from all the free-loaders and are pawning the rest of that "special stuff" on people willing to pay $48 for a game that was just free a day ago with pretty much the same feel. The company is just trying to milk QL for all it's worth until people realize it is a very shitty remake of Q3.

If they allowed monthly billing they would have to expand a "collections" department... thats accounts receivable. It would cost more then it's worth to any company really. Refunds, address changes, emails out and in, CC info updates....

Annually makes a ton harder but from a business standpoint is the way to go.

Tool... man. Come on. You keep spouting off 48 a year... but you get the content for 23 as well... so keep that inmind. As far as content being new.... theres 20 added maps to Quake Live... making then new... to quake live. Not everyone in qlive has played maps from cpma or osp or .32 or what ever. Hell, quakeunity has maps that not many have seen ever and mavs map contest has the same. Its NEW to qlive. Because you have played it, or think its changed for the worse, or what ever......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... no one cares.

Actually wait... you spent the time to post and repost and repost on their site... so you care.

Again, just don't play it.... don't pay for it... how hard is that? You have gained and lost absolutely nothing from before the update to after.

In all honesty I think they will eventually get to making a smaller period of time than a whole year because I am sure plenty of people are going to complain about it.

If they would be smart about it they would say $5.00 a month and for 3 months it would be $12.00 and for 6 months $20.00. Something along the lines that if you purchase more at the start in the long run it will be cheaper.

And to put this into perspective.... when I had a 32 slot server with Mav....Zone server, Annually it cost me $288. So I was paying $288 for 1 server. Currently Zone costs $180 a year...... Now I can add any maps I want, full control.... but what do I gain oher then being able to add PK files?

Almost $300 a year to have a Mav server.... just one... with updates every.... 2 years? And Qlive is max'd at $48 a year?

So wheres the scam?

You don't HAVE to use Mav. He just happens to be the most convenient for 1.16.

Jared is hosting a server in 1.32 from his own house for free and it pretty much runs like a charm.

sv_fps is at 40, and it has 512 hunkmegs DEDICATED to one server... and it's on wifi atm... but still smoother than the uscpmpickup/ninex servers

Im here fairly often!

I think they should allow monthly billing, it works for runescape. Also options to pay with your phone for monthly billing etc would make them more money, I think the idea of anually paying them is a little... fishy. Why make (mostly kids) pay that much in one go? confused I do agree with tool a bit, you can't exactly say the maps are new when theyre using japanese castles, and more importantly the Focal Point map, which was developed specifically for the NoGhost mapping competition. I did lol a little when I saw that map was a premium map. However the idea of having your own QL server sounds good, but I bet the only customization you can do is changing map, changing game type and... that's probably it.
