Qlive FPS problem

Ok... here's my issue....

My 1 HDD crapped out due to a virus so, fortunately, I had bought that 1TB HDD and reinstalled windows on that... is working fine.

Now, it was a clean install... no issues. I reDL'd the video drivers for my nvidia 9500GT 1GB card. The ones that the nvidia site recommends. The only changes I had made was to hook up my TV to my card via DVI to HDMI converter. I had to "mirror" my screen to show on both.

So, when I started playing Qlive yesterday... I noticed that I had teh same cfg settings I had prior. Max FPS set at 125 and pins to it solid the whole game.... but then, every 5 to 8 minutes I would drop to 14-18 FPS... for about 2 minutes. I figured maybe it was the duel monitor settings that were lagging down my Vidcard... so I turned it off and went back to my normal display..... still happened. Smokey told me about teh nvidia beta driver release..... so I tried that... same thing. Then I realize3d that maybe even though I changed my duel monitor settings... still having the DVI cable plugged in was causing the vidcard to still use the resources... so I unplugged it from my card.... same problem still.

I am not using anything different that I use to.... Same vid card, (was) teh same drivers, same firefox, same everything..... same cfg, same settings......But no matter what I still get the same issue.


It only happening every so often makes me believe its the card some way..... but it runs perfect for 70% of the game and as well with other games...


Suggestions?

go to nvidia control panel and fix the global settings, make it high performance

also, since you're on win7. goto control panel, power options, and set THAT to high performance as well

Upped everything you suggested and more.... played 2 games with no problems. I forgot about the nvidia control panel :/

Played a few today... no problems. I didn't change any settings either...

It may be... but I haven't seen the same issue on the forums. Yesterday, no problems..... odd.

One thing I do really really hate about Qlive is the FF/Nvidia driver issue. If I join Qlive in FF or even Opera I can join a game with no problems. The 2nd game I try and join always crashes the browser. Their fix? Downgrade my nvidia drivers..... not "hey, it's our software so we will fix it".... nah, that would make too much sense .

I can only play qlive on opera once I don't refresh the page... once I refresh gotta start over Opera to play a next game..

Yeah mine crashes to.

I play fine on Opera or FF.... but both crash after trying to join a second game. For some reason, the plugin wont work on my IE....

i changed my r_colorbits and r_texturebits to 0 like on q3a and i seem to be keeping 125 in more places then i used to.

Well tad remember this even the pro's use low quality. It's fine and if it helps you out then by means use it.
