i was playing blackops earlier today, i go into a game and my emblem is as it always has been, a skull and two swords behind it.... but get this bullshit, after the game ends, i go to my playercard to check my combat record, and i notice my emblem is no longer there. i press "edit playercard" and it backs me out to the multiplayer menu and pops up a message saying "xxRICHTOFENxx has been banned from using this feature visit http://callofduty.com/blackops/help for more information"

i've had that same fucking emblem since i hit rank 20 the first time on that name. a skull and crossed swords is NOT fucking offensive. how fucking retarded can a game developer possibly be? Treyarch has set a new standard (besides Sony's ironic lawsuits against Geohot, they're getting sued for the same thing they're suing him for)

just pisses me off that they use automated systems to ban people. people could get a bunch of other people to report you just because they lost to you in a game and had a little pissyfit in the pre-game lobby.

I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. At least in all other games, there's a review process to avoid precisely that. Game companies know gamers and the different maturity levels of 'em, it's not that cut and dry.

You seem to be forgetting the fact that by not playing a game you enjoy because they banned your emblem id not sticking it up to them (especially if you're playing another one of their games instead), it's just hurting you. Also, you seem to have not considered the possibility of a) you actually doing something wrong b)it's a glitch that may get corrected or c)it's a simple mistake an email would fix.

But Porn is correct. They stand nothing to lose by you "quitting".... or even being banned. You have already purchased the game. Assumable not do to who made it, but due to the game content. Understandable. I had no clue who made the game until I purchased it and their name flashed on the screen after my install. I also assume, as I believe they do, no matter the negative impact you have with the company who creates the game, due to the game being something you enjoy... you will more-then-likely purchase the next installments by them on the same game type.

You seem to be going on about an automated response. Like Porn said, it could be a simple misunderstanding. You have to actually look into that before you "boycott" a company for their actions..... imo.

Just your admittance to playing a different game, of theirs, is as extreme admittance to your liking of their product. Your "run in" with them won't change that. Get teh facts, send an email... and post your email and their reply. If you were in the right and them in the wrong.... then thats post worthy.

Treyarch does review game footage when someone reports another fyi.

You can't say thats always true. And you can't vouch for the people watching the demo's if they do. It's the same as any other game owner.... Sometimes they do right, sometimes they don't.

I sent 4 demos to Quake live of someone not only hacking while I watched in spec, but him admitting he was hacking in plain view. There was at least 3 other people that sent in separate demos...so I had heard.... nothing happened. Not one ban, nothing. 90% MG in 60+ games used 70% of the time. Obvious hack, no ban....


Then he happened to play vs fatality..... was banned 2 games later that same day. Yes, I got a reply to my emails that the situation would be looked into, and they had the demos.... but they did nothing until someone "important" (presumably) complained.

No game has a faultless checks-&-balance system. I believe they "want" to rid games of hackers..... but in all honesty, once you bought the game...... it really doesn't matter. They have your money, if you quit..... they have your money. They ban enough to keep people believing its a hackers game.... so that word of mouth won't ruin other's purchases.... which it obviously doesn't.

I'll post my story of my 1st ban, in BO and called a hacker, tomorrow. It was not from a demo, and nothing "extraordinary".... but I was band never-the-less for "hacking.... because I had 14-1 in the 1st 3 minutes....

I was not banned by the game, but the server owners. It's actually a funny story for those who play....

problem is, i've got no idea what their email is for ban appeals/customer service or w/e.

and FYI, i heard from multiple different in-game users that the report/ban thing is automated, not really a reliable source, but just saying.

They have no appeal process that I saw.

Here's what they said about emblems:

Offensive emblem makers
Users who create emblems that are sexually gratuitous or racially offensive.

• Minor offense: 2-week ban from using the emblem editor, emblem reset to default, emblem purchases wiped
• Major offense: Permanent ban from using the emblem editor

There's really not anything you can do.... but it doesn't stop you from playing the game.

If worrying about your player card is that important, you are playing teh game wrong.

Also from what I heard is they are legally suppose to watch a demo when someone reports another.

There's no laws about anything close to that lol.

"Legally"... they can refuse to sell there games to anyone outside of black people that have green shoes and live in Texas. They are a company with a product, there's no "laws" governing their practice at all. The only "Law" they have to follow is to display an EULA.... which they have. In the EULA, they can put anything they want. The only reason for the end user agreement is for disclosure reasons. If they say "we will reserve the right to ban you for anything we find offensive".... then they can ban anyone they want that uses the word "and"... if they claim, to them, the word is offensive.

This is how rumors start. People believe, because they paid for something, they have some kind of "rights"...... You don't. You have to abide by any rules the company makes. They are not bound by the law to follow anything in regards to fair play or civil issues. A game maker can make a game, then sell a hack for the game if they want.

it's not that it changes my ability to play the game, it's that i was UNJUSTLY banned for something i didn't do. my emblem has been a skull and two swords pretty much through my entire time in blackops multiplayer. only actually changed it about three times, just for slight color changes/etc.

What you see as "not wrong", even if I agree with you, doesn't matter. It's their game, their rules.... and their abilities to enforce those rules how they see fit.

Yeah I know what your saying and thats what I mean. I don't think they review a game if it is only reported once unless it is a legit source.

i made a post being as polite as my attitude allows, i stated the facts and asked who i could contact to talk to about it, i looked back an hour later and my post had been erased completely without a trace.
