Well, today the goddam ISP people finally showed up at my house. That's good right? Maybe... They decided it was best for me to have an even lower connection (512 kbps?!!?!). The tech guy was like "That's a fucking great speed for 4 computers" (I have 4 + some extra if I have friends over with laptops) and I'm like "Yeah right, I'm sure lowering my speed is gonna make things faster and better for me. "
Seems like the problem was I was too far away from the almighty "Central" since I live in one of the oldest neighborhoods in my town, and that internet couldn't get here at a good speed (therefore my constant change in speed, sometimes i was going at 26mbps) and for some magic reason 512 won't due that anymore.
Well so far so good, no speed changes for over an hour.
I made 'em change my modem while they were at it for a new one.
We'll see how I lag in quake, will it be better? I hope so. Bad news are, my Quakeputer is still unwilling to connect to the internet, and my personal tech guy is coming to check it tomorrow and hopefully I'll be back to quake tomorrow.
