FINALLY!!!

After a long debate on a friends FB page today (Who is a gay christian) I was debating with a "solid" christian. He kinda gave up, but he said he wanted me to "let jesus prove himself to me".... well, I told him he can tell me why I should change what I believe for his beliefs and to add me on FB so we could have a lengthy debate, which he did

If all goes well, I will post everything said. I may FINALLY have someone worth debating

You are more then welcome to detest who ever you want....but if you are a christian, how many things did jesus say about homosexuality?

let me re-phrase my sentence its extremely hard for me to accept GAY people (its the way i was raised....I'm very religious ) i don't want anyone hating me or i don't want to hurt anyone

the bible considers sleeping with the same sex considered abominable, its not right and according to John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." IF the word thinks is abominable then so does GOD

You will never offend me with your beliefs... I hope I can request the same from you. But if you want to use scripture how about "Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself. Leviticus 19:18 " It doesn't say "unless they are gay. And genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.... not "except the gay ones."

And the only person really in the new testament that talked about homosexuality was Paul.... who also said slavery was good as was the fact that woman should be seen and not heard nor ever teach. Like I said before, jesus never said 1 word about homosexuality.

If you are getting your info from the old testament, thats fine.... where your points are more valid. But, then you have to agree that every child that disobeys his parents should be put to death as well as rape, incest, and murder are ok... as that is also sanctioned in the old testament.

Btw, Tad, I tried getting my dad to debate with you on my FB status, but he said he doesn't have the patience to get into a full fledged debate :/ I think he'd enjoy it tho lol

This. This is exactly what is wrong with religion. It defaults people into a "it's the way it is" mindset without any critical thinking. How about YOU backup YOUR arguments with YOUR very own critical thinking. If you do so, and come to the same conclusion, then by all means that's a way more respectable stand to take.


Not to turn this into a weird hate religion thread, but I just learned the selection process to become "canonized" with all this pope John Paul II canonization thing. It actually requieres the pope to either die a martyr and make at least one miracle, or make at least two miracles. And people don't actually realize how fucking insane that is. I had a conversation with a teacher (don't worry, it's one of those stupid filling classes you don't need a brain to teach) who actually believed in this. Apparently, John Paul II cannot be canonized because he only performed one miracle: she cured a nun, two months after his death, of her parkinson's disease.

I don't know if this was something all of you knew, but this comes as a motherfucking shock to me, I'm in awe of the stupidity.
