Outdated Client Message When Trying To Log On The Server.

Whenever I try and get on the server this is what happens.

i tryed updating but it still wont let me in.

Then you must have done something wrong.

All you have to do is download the client .jar file, open your .minecraft/bin folder, change the one that is on there currently to minecraft.old.jar...then put the new one in.

I've been on the server, so I know it's working.

um or just press "force update"

I don't know if this is an update like that. The way I read an article is this was a mini update, and not really promoted.


Although, it has a really cool new mob in it.

Alright, so I updated Minecraft on my work computer today and it worked, but when I got home and updated my Minecraft on my computer the same exact way it's not working.

now that's odd.

Tad i get your point but i'm pretty sure that's what it is, for example i updated my client, but not my server and got something along the lines of "outdated server", so i presume it's the same message, but vice versa.

my mac dont work like that. theres no force update key or a minecraft folder that i know of

Just do it the way I mentioned before. It takes 30 seconds...

MY MAC WILL NOT DO THAT. scv tryed helping me on skype and he cant do it.

I'm not sure what the issue is.

It's the same update type that the server has had 3 or 4 times. All you have to do is download the minecraft.jar file from the link I posted, and put it in the minecraft/bin folder. I'm not sure why anyone is having issues. I did it on my 3 computers and didn't have any issue at all.

It has to be that something is being done wrong, because I can't see what else the problem could be.

Mac's suck, especially for gaming..

mcb have you actually tried what jeff said? Literally as easy as

1. Download minecraft.jar from minecraft.net
2. go to %appdata%/.minecraft/bin (might be different for mac)
3. make a copy of the minecraft.jar in there (or just copy the entire folder, to be safe) and put it in your documents somewhere
4. Put the minecraft.jar you downloaded in there

yes i have tryed thing is. mac dousnt have files like a laptop so i cant just go to minecraft.jar cuz i dousnt exist on a mac.

Mac and the PC are exactly the same when it comes to how games/apps work. The PC has a folder, as does Mac.

Mac OSX:
Open a Finder window
Click the Go Menu item and Click Go to Folder
Head to “/Users/~Library/Application Support/minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar” (~is your user name)

The minecraft.jar file is what runs the game. Without it, you can't play it at all. It's not a mac/pc thing.... it's the file that runs the game. It's in the same "bin" folder as it is on PC...it's just different to get to.

Also, all you have to do is spend a few moments on google and/or youtube. I found this in a few seconds:

Open Finder.app
Click “Go” in menubar
Then choose “Go to folder…”
Type in “~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/bin” (without quotes)


Then do what jeff and i said.

and also, from the video jeff posted it sorta looks like there is a force update on macs...

i found the force update on minecraft but nothing changed.

You found it 2 days after EQ posted exactly where it was AND after you said it wasn't there.... You have to stop with the "it's a Mac, not a PC" stuff. It's the basic same premise.


So....you're not going to do the steps I said from the beginning that would have solved this problem from the start?

Honestly... I don't understand why I keep giving you the steps to fix this, and you keep declining to do them. It will take you longer to read this post then to update it. I just can't understand that it has taken this long to simply update the mincraft.jar file. It's a simple download, replace.... That's it. Nothing more. Fixed.

Down load it, follow the steps I posted above to find your minecraft/bin folder....and put it there. That's it....


Why is this so hard?

She's 15 and dyslexic, Jeff, cut her some slack.

Trust me, I know your frustration from past attempts to help her with homework, but the understanding of varying processes and steps itself doesn't come easy to her because of her dyslexia. She's also very far from tech-savvy as well..

But, it being a Mac, does make it slightly harder to mess with, as file locations won't be 100% the same, nor will varying built-in programs used to locate said locations. I can use "Run" and find it, or since I have a Windows 7, I can use the search bar in the start menu, she can't. So while the game itself may be the same, the files themselves won't be 100% exact.
