Couldn't Be Saved

i watched you slip away
as you let me go
i opened my heart to you,
only to feel more alive inside,
i already sensed you didn't care,
i already knew, this wasn't love,
it was over before it even started.
that is how it was.

I seemed desperate
collecting my pieces,
never a whole,
shattered dreams,
i invited you to come save me,
but i couldn't be saved.
you weren't the one for me.

i know i take things for granted,
as we all do,
we live our lives so pathetic,
no escape, everythings read through,
forgotten, not even trying to make it better
only hiding from the truth
and pretend that everything is ok.

we force a smile to tell the world
we would walk miles to find an answer,
we don't care what tomorrow may bring
as long as we remain the same inside.
without a reason to cry
to not understand your tears
even after a few years,
pain was inevitable
right from the beginning
and you still remain thankful?
