Correct..... but that's why I am saying branding is important to quality. Not of the hardware, but the computer itself. Yes you could fix things up yourself and bring the integrity to higher level... but then that would make that brand inferior to ones you did not half to.

Thats how Dell and Gateway made a living.... Take name brand parts, skimp on the minor components, do a piss poor job putting them together, and ship them out... at a noticeably cheaper price. People thought they were getting a deal... yet had problems quickly.... even with top of the line hardware.

And I agree with the preinstalled software. My new laptop was caked with it..... But they make money that way whether you buy or not.

nodata wrote:then explain to me why dells are more notorious for problems than most other computers

it doesnt just have to do with parts, it also has to do with how the parts are installed

rush wrote:

dells are put together the exact same as different brands.. it's not dell's fault that idiots don't know how to take care of their computers.

Data was actually correct there.....

Gateway, Dell, and eMachines are well known for problems and failures due to poor/cheap assembly.

it's still wrong to recommend one brand over another nowadays in my opinion.

and how is he correct? he said how parts are installed... you can't "incorrectly" install a part... it's like a yes/no question lol. If it's not in correctly it simply wont function...

@rush yes but also windows is known for slowing down over time as the coding on windows is messed up.

no... no... no...

its not the coding, is all user errors. the longer you use it, the more you're gonna have registry errors (from installing/uninstalling shit), etc etc etc etc etc

has NOTHING to do with how windows is coded

Shadow is correct. Windows has it's problems... but 99% of windows errors are user created. Proof that your statement is incorect Joe.. is you said over time due to the coding. But if you do a fresh install... its fine. Reg errors as shad said, user error. Windows, home based, out of the box, is less then perfect.... but not far from.

Well of course user errors are surely to occur but you think they would fix the uninstalling/installing issues.
Every day your computer gets errors even for the people that use it just for emailing and general stuff.

Im here fairly often!

Did you install anything on your pc recently? Do you check your task manager regularly? How much is the cpu usage at? Maybe theres a program that eats your computer out

i have a couple ideas on what it could be, either my lack of ram(i have 504 mb T.T) or the fact that my internet is kinda hacked by something called loudmo

That would do it on a machine running ram by "mattel"

if you buy a "1 gig" stick, its likely to be around 980'sh mb

if you buy a 250 gb hard drive, its likely to be around 235 gb

they just round it to a "well known" number in order to market it. because who would go and buy a 504 mb stick vs a "512"?
