My Quake 3 has failed

I redownloaded it and tried to play and it said

Your graphics card, it hates it. Maybe a driver issue or a setting issue.

we're working on my original computer, but i think it's fried for good :'( it was a good computer, even tho it was dell

Restart your computer and see if it works. There are several things you can try.

1. Do you have any other games that you run? Make sure you don't have multiple monitors disabled.

2. Graphic card drivers updated? Make sure your DirectX is up to date also.

3. The cause of the problem could be that your q3config's resolution is too high for your computer. Check your q3config manually by going in your baseq3 folder and open your config, look for r_mode command or r_fullscreen. Change r_mode to 3 and r_fullscreen to 0. Then open quake and see if it works. It should open up in window mode. If it does, go to Systems menu and change your resolution.

The error you're getting has to do with your video card, drivers, registry, config files. If none of the above works, you may have to do some google research on what openGL files you are missing.

see if there is updates for the graphic card.

its basiclly saying... "HEY BITCH HOW IM SUPPOSED TO PUSH THE GFX FOR THIS GAME WHEN I DONT HAVE CORRECT THE DLL's TO DO IT!"

I could be wrong..... But it did load teh opengl.dll file.

It looks to me like a PR update problem. This being on the "new" computer.... how did you install it?

i went to megaupload and downloaded it, extracted the files from the .zip, and deleted the noghost files and tried to run it, and that popped up

quake 3 didnt fail, this is a pebcak error

also: vid drivers

ya u've asked me what it meant couple times before...

@tad - he used the q3 i uploaded thats for running a home server... 1.16 & noghost installed..

i'm back on my computer, with my NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200

i'm pretty sure it's nothing compared to your cards, but still, i know this works

plenty to run QL at round 90 fps

it's the same card i had before my computer failed on me

idk why, but i'm actually getting less FPS in EVERYTHING than i did before and i have more ram this time, that's the only change we've done to it :/

type of ram > amount of ram.

You can run 4GB of pc133 with less abilities then 1GB of DDR3 800.

only differences are the manufacturer

as far as quake 3, i'm back up to my normal fps, actually a little better cuz i made some adjustments to my cfg that actually help me play

but quakelive, so far i get less fps than i used to

i don't think there are, all i got from ql last time was like 30 fps, and that was with a cfg that was designed for pos computers like mine

i'm just attempting to get this one the same way all on my own atm
