a single drop
falls from up high
making it through the commotion
this is where it resides.
it falls to its inevitable doom
simply accepting its fate
reflecting the ending
knowing its coming soon.
it has found its resting place
as the ground absorbs it
giving back into this world
another moment it spends with time.
the sky clears up
after it has paid its dues
the crowd gathers
too see the world dry.
come out to witness
another tear to the eye.
desperately we try to hide the obvious
we look to the ground
for what once was a memory
reinvented itself on this day.
tears of joy rain from my soul
knowing one day i won't have to let you go
collecting the pieces
for now i sit and wait
trying to understand my fate.
