check out "john carmacks keynote" on youtube. He explains how qL is not making enough money to cover its own costs. PLus all the subscription monies they are getting is being poured into ID's new game "Rage," which looks like absolute crap and doesnt have strafe jumping... Also, there is no anti-cheat or server refs in qL. Tier matching system is completely worthless and doesnt even work properly. Subscriptions are falling and the qL forums are full of players complaining about ID's lack of motivation towards keeping quake alive. Also, you cant spawn a public server, which is the only reason people subscribe.
