T@D or Virt or someone else

Wanting to know two things from either or, or anyone who might know.
What choices do I have for free forums (forumotion, etc)
And second T@D or Virt could you please make me a clan thing for those forums?

When I started this site 4+ years ago, I tried a ton of sites....this was the best one.

Unless you want to "build" one and use a free host like H$ does.

From personal experience I recommend using a free host such as web000 and using an open source forum software (or pirated) and doing it that way. This way you are not restricted with your choices but if you do go in this path you have to consider a lot.

Of course it sounds like a no brain deal but consider this; DB errors, designing of the forum, configuration, maintenance, learning how to use FTP, eventually paying for hosting (if you want a custom domain), etc.

Now if that doesn't sound like your thing then go with a free forum host, Forumotion is recommend just keep in mind that in the future if you become bigger and have to move hosts you can forget about your forum and start fresh because they will not release their database to you.

As far as Forumotion goes it has it's pro's and con's. A few pro's being you don't have to pay for hosting, maintenance, user friendly, easy to configure and make look pretty, free domain name (once you hit a certain amount of activity) and you won't have security issues.

In summary if you want to put less work into the forums then go with FM but if you plan on it becoming big and what not then go with something else. In my honest opinion FM is the best.

forumotion is definitely best for the least amount of work input and hassle, but if you want a more complex site like H$, find a free host and build it up using a base software. for forums, i mostly prefer SMF (Simple Machines Forum) since it's very quick set-up and administration, but i've used cracked VBulletin sources a few times before. but yeah, unless you want to put in a ton of work, i agree with Virt, stick with Forumotion.

I love how H$ is the prime example, fuck that other dead clan that had 3 letters and used the same software and had the most registered / active users at one point.


Seriously though, just stick to forumotion. The amount of hassle that nuke software has caused over the years is amazing to say the least lol. Also, your database will be safe.

Well Nuke isn't the only forum software out there, in fact I do not recommend using it. Use phpBB, vBulletin, IP Boards if you do go with hosting it on your own.

But yeah FM has a safe DB.

It's going to be forums for my Call of Duty Black Ops clan. We are registered thru MLG gaming and I wanted to make forums for us, but I need a header made.

i didn't bother to mention nuke, because nuke sucks. period. i tried it ONCE. ONE TIME. couldn't get it running. :l i mentioned H$'s site because Namepad allows you to upload your own files instead of restricting you to specific software and layouts.

i still have a namepad account, but you'll see that my ex-gf's sister uses it more than i do, for some stupid anime roleplay community. but she took my advice and stuck with SMF's base software, at least the forums don't look like shit. xD

btw, merk, why did you guys set up H$'s forums on phpnuke anyways? it should've been obvious that there would be major issues from it later just looking back at how much of a pain it is to set it up.

Just ask their addresses and send a letter that they are all to sign/add stuff to and send to another member until it gets back to you! Awesome, personalized way of clan communication and it requires basically no maintenance; you can skip all the years it takes to establish a forum and build trust to learn where they live, get directly to the raping!

Wasn't me who started it, Head$hot the founder of H$ made it in 2006.
