New Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy to be released on November 23
Dr. Pepper will give everyone a free Dr. Pepper on same day
LOS ANGELES (CBS4) ― For fans of Guns N' Roses, they probably never thought the day would come. For Dr. Pepper, what may have started as a tongue-in-cheek offer will end up with everyone getting a Dr. Pepper for free, will come together on November 23, when Guns N' Roses finally release "Chinese Democracy."
The album has cost the record label over $13 million and has been in production since the mid 1990's. The album will be the first full album of new Guns N' Roses material since 1991's "Use Your Illusion I and II."
Dr. Pepper entered the fray in 2008 by issuing a challenge to Axl Rose. If he would release the album in 2008, they would give "everyone in America" a free can of Dr. Pepper.
Once Axl Rose, who is the only remaining original member, set the release date, Dr. Pepper said they would make good on the free can of Dr. Pepper for anyone who wanted it, even former Guns N' Roses members.
But, there is a catch to how the whole system works.
In order to get a coupon for the free Dr. Pepper, you must go to the website, drpepper.com, and register online. You will then receive a coupon for a free 20-oz Dr. Pepper wherever the drink is sold.
The coupon will only be available on November 23, the release date of the album, and expire on February 28.
