fps help

First topic message reminder :

Well usually I can deal with this, but its getting ridiculous

I can play at solid 125 fps for about 30 whole seconds... then it stutters and drops around 30 for the rest of the game

my pc is clean as can be, honestly lol. I run 2 diff virus scans per day and have spybot search and destroy check 3 times a week, and avira antivir guard always on. (and i have made quake3.exe an exception so it doesnt bog it down)

my cfg is very clean as well, its always trimmed and just a shade under 8 kb

Running Windows XP SP2
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.46 ghz
2 x 512 DDR2 RAM
Intel 965 Chipset 256 mb VRAM (its a laptop ;o)

Any suggestions? ;x

1) Alt+Ctrl+Delete

2) Processors tab.

3) End all processors started by your user-name, apart from quake3.exe and xfire.exe ^_^

lol, if you close explorer.exe or any svchost.exe's ur taking some huge risks!

Question why do you have so many anti-virus programs?
Just get bitdefender and you don't need to worry. Either that or Nod32 but Nod takes up ram so I recommend bitdefender

Ehh not really with explorer.exe. Mine use to crash all the time didn't mess up the computer just was a pain in the ass but svchost.exe I don't know about.
