I don't like that quote. It's making an argument that because there are many religions, there must be one that is right and the rest must be wrong, so, logically, it's not reasonable to believe in them. It works in that sense, but it fails to disprove the existence of some 'other' intelligent force out there that planned what we see today, what surrounds us; and that is what this debate is about, it's not about religions.

It's a matter of either believing in that some kind of randomness made the particles that created the world as we see it happen by chance, or if some driven force began it all. It's something that science has not been able to prove or disprove; it goes beyond what we as humans have been able to measure and observe, and that's point where faith makes its play. Make no mistake though, it takes the same faith to believe in some other 'force' than to believe there is no 'force' at all. It's the same blind leap we're all making.

People waste their life with religion. What kind of a God would allow that? To be a slave of blind faith. I don't really care if there is or isn't a God. Damn, either way it wouldn't change much apart from people who I don't care about lives. Wheehee.. :\

If there is a God, whoo hoo, I'm going to Hell but since I'll be dead I can't feel pain so I have no fear.

If there is no God, nothing changes in my life anyway.

If anything, Christianity was founded by directly taking the Egyptian sun-god religion and changing it up. I think in a way we all know theres nobody in the clouds knowing and doing all, it's just easier to think of it that way. It doesn't mean there is no greater power somewhere than humans, it's likely that there is. The universe is a big place. Nobody will really be able to prove to the world 100% how the world was made, at least not any time soon I bet.

I agree, the likelihood of nothing out there is slim to none.... but something, or a "god", watching over us, hearing our prayers, helping us succeed, walking on water, raising the dead..... well, In my opinion it's horse shit.

There is more argumentative "proof" in the absence of god then there is facts there is or ever was one. Every race on earth has always looked for "the answer". And almost all have invented "a god". Some believe there is one, some believe there is many, some believe on none. To each their own really.

that was a good one rush. You guys have good evidence that god couldn't exists. You could convince alot of people with that evidence but every time i ask god for something he usually comes through for me. Either i'm lucky as hell. Or God is real!

God doesn't exist. Everything that happens in life is due to choice, coincidence, and character. Your beliefs are your beliefs, and no amount of proof, naivety, ignorance, pureness, or evil in the world can change that, which is one of the major problems about humanity. But as long as you aren't justifying your religion for your actions (whether it be murder or charity) then I'm fine with that kind of belief.

i don't believe in coincidence...everything happens for a reason, whether it is to learn from or punishment or reward, there's a reason behind it...i'm not saying there's a higher power involved, someone coulda planned it

So if you're walking along the street and a cool breeze blows a nifty $100 bill by your nose, then what would you call that besides coincidence or luck?

Luck is a proper synonym of coincidence. Both dwell down to pure chance.

I was referring to luck where as people bring something like a lucky pair of underwear or a lucky penny to an exam or something believing it will help them

say in Quake 3 i was facing you in a/w tool...it's guaranteed i'll lose cuz you play a/w A LOT and i don't play at all...so if i kill you it's pure luck...but it's not coincidence cuz i pulled the trigger on purpose in hopes of killing you...therefore luck =/= coincidence

it's luck all around, coincidence is more like accident, but i did it on purpose cuz that's what i was trying to do
