I know most of you are younger so I wanted to take a moment to explain something to that your generation "may" have a chance to promote us to a better country in the future.

Arizona has recently passed an immigration law. This law basically states that law enforcement has the right to stop anyone at any time to ask them or their citizenship papers/green cards. The US general public is outraged claiming this goes against civil liberties and is a form of "profiling".

Here's the problem.... Every state, every city, has the same law. Every police officer has the exact same ability. Elsewhere we call it probable cause. Meaning any cop can detain you and require you to show identification if they feel a crime is being committed...... And last time I looked being an illegal alien is, well.... Illegal. A crime. Being suspected of a crime is..... Probable cause.

But even above that... Now groups and individules and even local governments are calling for a "boycott" against the state of AZ in protest of their new law. Are you joking? What a brilliant idea. Government officials comprise a new bill that did not require a majority vote from the people. They sign the bill into law whether the citizens agree or not..... So we boycott and personally attack the people who had nothing to do with it? If you stop spending money in or traveling to AZ who is effected? Ya.. The poor sap who is trying to make a living and provide for his family in a state that passed a law he had NOTHING to do with. Do you really think an economical downfall is going to cut or effect the jobs of the officials who actually had their hands on this bill? No. It effects the everyday citizen.

Some people actually went to the extremes of protesting at a Diamondbacks baseball game. Do they really believe that a baseball team comprised of almost no native AZ citizens can actually do anything government related to make even one change? The Arizona ice tea company posted a frantic comment assuring everyone that even though they use the AZ state name on their product that they are a NY based company. Are you fucking joking? People disagree with a law so they go to steps to even include not buying a drink due to the name printed on the side? What sad place this can be.

My point is this country is full if ignorant followers who are just looking for a "cause" to be part of. Religion, factions, militias.... Followers. I would assume 90% of people who fight for or believe in their causes have no clue what the he'll they are backing to begin with. For future referances for everyone... Before you back anything take the time to read and learn the facts first so you don't get lost in the middle of one of their protests with the other mindless drones who have no clue what's going on and their only facts come from some jackass with a mic or the guy next to them with the big hand held sign.

It is so sad to see but this country is full of mindless, robot sheep.

The problem with the law, in its' original state, was that the officers just needed "a reasonable suspicion" to ask anyone on the street about their immigration status. Virtually forcing everyone to carry an ID at all times, or they could face jail. Now, how do you come up with a reasonable suspicion about someone being an illegal immigrant? Yup, you guessed it, race. Even though it was explicitly said race couldn't be a factor, how else? So basically, any latino mowing a lawn was now a target to be stopped and questioned by police officers for no reason at all; and that's the problem.

However, the law was changed a couple days ago to make it so they can only ask a person to confirm the legality of their status in the country when arrested for something else, which is better.

The protests work, it's not about expecting the Diamondbacks baseball thing to do anything themselves, but to pressure elected officials into changing the law. How do you pressure them? Well, if you mess with the economy of the state, they have an obligation towards their citizens. It's not as retarded as described in your post. Sure, you'll affect some people, that's the point of it.

And as an aside, they are targeting illegal immigration the wrong way, there's only two ways to stop it:

1.- Improve the economy of Latin American countries, most importantly, Mexico.

2.- Be hard on people who employ illegals.

The US can only do number 2. Why target the illegals themselves? It's far better to go after the employers. It's not about the individual, it's about the phenomenon. But no, they'd rather target the non-citizens, and leave the employers alone, because after all, a great part of the economy depends on illegal cheap work.

I completely agree with point 2. Their should be harsh fines and maybe even jail times for those employers who hire illegals for work. That cuts back Americans during hard times from findng work.

Bit I will say that in general, most jobs that illegals do have... Most American are too lazy to do anyway.

As fat as the protests leading to an amendment... I still stand by what I said. It is complete bullshit to effect the lives of the every day citizen to push an issue with the local government. Noone thinks about the results of their acctions effecting anyone... As long as they get their way.

This country is still full of sheep.

And to add... What great posters/shirts in the DC protest.

"arrest us not our familys" and I loved "Obama, stop deporting our familys"

both of those popularly used terms of the day could end with the same line...."even though they are illegal and breaking the US laws"

All cops need to do is wear an IRS Shirt and arrest the runners.
