First topic message reminder :

So I thought this would be a good debate. Although I know 70% of you are going to defend PC. There are Mac users on this forum, clip_ being one of them. I am about 50/50.

I enjoy Windows for the gaming and programs.

On the other hand I enjoy browsing, downloading and watching pornography on the net without having to worry about viruses. (little joke on the end of that one).

Also enjoy the stability of the OS as to I don't have to worry about my 4+ hour PS project crashing even though I have to agree I should be smarter and save the file frequently.

BUT on the other hand Macs cost lots more and somewhat over charge but they have their pro's and con's.

Opinions?

I mean, if you truly read my post, you'd see that my only issue was the blocks on sites. Just cuz I had 1 issue, doesn't mean I only did 1 thing on the computer...

My computer is a dell, it is 6 years old and runs perfect - now im not a hardcore gamer, and i dont stretch my computer to the ends of the earth (im sure you use you mac much more than i use my pc) but seriously, i have never felt limited.

Think before you post...

Perhaps a dell does suck if you are wishing to launch a rocket from one... but that doesnt mean they suck overall

also could this be a case of you get what you pay for?? I'm sure dells range from cheap and crap to expensive and good

Dell actually created a bad name of itself partly due to inferior product builds but also bad customer service and knowledge. And no, that doesn't mean every product they built is crap but a companies reputation isn't built solely on 1 or 2 things but the company as a whole.... and in teh past they failed badly. Someone could buy a dell built computer really cheap that lasts 10 years, or a really expensive computer from them that lasts a week.

That happens with every company, I understand that..... but with Dell, they were not equip to handle the problems they had coming in. That's why their customer rating is one of the lowest out of every pre-build company. Apple, however, is the highest.... because even though they also have faulty products as everyone does, they have tended to service their customers more professionally and have a better grasp on the knowledge of their products.

Gateway was another company. They actually, at one time, were in direct competition with Dell and were winning due to the fact they built more solid rigs. But again, their customer service was a failure leading to the companies downturn.

In my opinion, Dell is only still even a brand due to Alien-ware. They purchased a solid, reputable, albeit expensively priced product wise....company and that helped their reputation..... but it has been noted time and time again that their product builds were inferior and their customer service, over all, was also a failure.

Dell is a shit company because Dell created a reputation of being a shit brand name over all.

Thinking a assembly company is crap doesn't mean you think PC's are crap. Joe seems to not like Dell, but likes PC's 50/50 to Mac's.

You don't have to only make shit products to be a shit company. Opinions are typically created by personal experiences. And mine of Dell overall the past 10+ years, is they sell too many inferior products with problems and do not have the means to handle them professionally. I don't mean every case, or every time..... but to have an educated opinion you need personal experiences or reliable sources. I can only go off of mine and those of people close to me. And due to all of that, I think Dell is a shit company. Also if you research their customer approval ratings across the board, they also fail there.

But like I said earlier....
T@D wrote:Someone could buy a dell built computer really cheap that lasts 10 years, or a really expensive computer from them that lasts a week.

But the fact of the matter is.....buying a product from Dell will more then likely increase the chances of you getting a faulty product.

Here's some reading.

2004: http://news.cnet.com/2100-1042-5162141.html

2007: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20070815/022843.shtml (Why spend 150 million to fix problems you claim you do not have)

2008: http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/17/apple-tops-pc-customer-service-rankings/ (2008, survey was done. Article was done in 2009)

2010: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/computer-tech-support-quality-ratings,9863.html (After 10+ years, they are starting to climb up the ladder.... but 53/100 is still low.)

Their company was falling apart due to first off: Sub-prime products, and second lack luster service. Continuing to do that for so long to so many people..... makes them, to me, a shit company.

Well good thing with a Mac is they have the Apple Care program which if ANYTHING happens to your computer they will fix it and you don't have to 'pay' although you are paying for the care program.

But as the story goes no matter what happens to your computer they fix it.

Also EQ I don't have a Mac. Used them quite a bit before but always owned PC. I don't have money for a Mac or else I would have an iMac for designing.

By the way if anyone didn't know 50/50 means neutral so I am not for Mac or against it, same goes for PC.

Something else you have to consider is how well the people who buy them take care of them.

I mean, there was 1 woman who called Dell Customer Service to tell them that her computer's cup holder broke, the cup holder being the CD tray(no joke...)...

My two experiences of dells are:

Dell dimension E520 (£600). About 6 years old, runs perfect

Dell inspiron (One of the best, intel duo core pentium) 1/2 a year old... runs great apart from quite often it has problems turning on... ("start windows normally" or "scan")

so overall, quite positive from me.

A lot of how computers work is how you treat them, and we have looked after ours with great care.

It's a crap shoot with Dell. Some people have good experiences, some bad. The problem is in the past, the bad outweighed the good. Seems they may be getting better though.

I couldn't stand scrolling side to side either..

I'd suggest trying a different browser. Or check the settings on that specific site.

If it's only that page, it's not the monitor. I assume it's browser related.

Chrome, Opera, Firefox.... I was a die hard Opera fan, but now i prefer chrome. Try one of those 3. Opera has a screen size slider to easily change on the fly.
